There are NO direct flights from the U.S. to Anguilla, so connections have to be made through San Juan, St. Thomas or St Maarten. After arriving on the Dutch side of the island, you will have to take a taxi to the French side (St Martin) and take the 20 minute ferry to Anguilla. You can also rent a private taxi boat ride from the Dutch side of St Maarten - which save a lot of travel time.
While not easy to get there, this island vacation is well
worth it.
Great Island Hopping Vacation!
Anguilla is a flat island, and is located about five miles from
St Martin.
Day trips to St Martin, and the neighbor islands of Saba and
St Barts can be easily arranged.
Unlike most Caribbean islands, Anguilla is not a place you will find the usual vacation crowd.
This is a vacation spot to enjoy away from the tourist crowd, and be pampered at some of the most elegant hotels and resorts in the Caribbean.
You will not find major cruise ships docking here, however Windjammer small cruises make an occassional stop.
While most Caribbean islands boast fine beaches, Anguilla actually has some of the finest beaches in all the Caribbean - and on all coasts.
Some of the best of the best include Maunday's Bay, Rendezvous Bay (provides great view of St Martin), Road Bay Beach, Crocus Bay, Island Harbour Bay, and Shoal Bay one of the most famous beaches in the Caribbean.
Anguilla hotels are known for elegance and the Mediterranean/North African architecture - and many visitors feel that the architecture gives the island the feel of the French or Italian Riviera. You will find a number of fine villas, condos and resorts, most of which are located on long stretches of power sand beaches.
Dining is quite varied on the island - and you will find an large offering of Caribbean, West Indian, French, Greek, Italian, Chinese, American, European and local cuisine. The top resorts offer some of the finest cuisine in the Caribbean. Most of the popular bars are found on the beach, or in the hotels.
