St Kitts and Nevis offer visitors privacy in a tropical environment, along with the West Indian culture from many centuries ago. The pace is very slow and laid back - even more so than other Caribbean island cultures.
You won't find any islanders hasseling you about time shares,
or trying to sell their wares. Everything here is very low key, and crime is practically non-existent.
The sister islands are seperated by a 45 minute ferry ride. With six different ferry services, you will not have to wait long either way, and fares run approximately $8.00 U.S. each way.
On both islands you will find what is referred to as "plantation house" hospitality mostly lost on most regional islands.
These plantation type properties offer great service, acres of lush landscapes, and beautiful views of the sea and neighboring islands. While plantation style properties are the norm, the are larger resorts on both islands.
For those looking for a larger resort atmosphere, Nevis boasts the Four Seasons beachfront resort, and St Kitts has the Marriott St Kitts.
St Kitts has a spectacular dormant volcano which is covered by a dense tropical forest, beautiful beaches - and is the larger of the two islands. The sister islands are close enough that you can easily go back and forth, or perhaps opt to split your vacation time between the islands.
Nevis is very quiet, and has lots of secluded beaches, coves, pristine reefs and lush rainforests. While its sister island has its volcanic peak,
Nevis boasts the 3,232-foot Nevis Peak. While you can arrange something as adventuresome as the one day climb up the peak, other might opt for a "night beach walk" to study the stars.
Both islands offer lush forests and green volcanic landscapes - and lots of green African monkeys that the tourist love, but most locals see as pests who eat their crops.
Both islands offer an array of water sports, golf courses, hiking and ecotravel in the interior.
