Getting Around Barbados
Barbados has a good bus system, and there are three different types of buses. Blue government buses are best for going from one side of the island to the other - they do not make frequent stops. Yellow striped buses are privately owned, and make more stops. If you are ready for an adventure, take the ZR vans, they stop wherever you want. The ZR's are know for driving at top speed, and are not for the faint hearted.

The island of Barbados is divided into eleven parishes which include: Christ Church, St Andrew, St George, St James, St John, St Joseph, St Lucy, St Michael, St Peter, St Philip, and St Thomas.

You may see Flying Fish while sailing the coastal waters, is the favorite fish of Barbados. About the size of sparrows, they can be seen soaring hundreds of yards over ocean waves. We like ours fried with yellow Bajan hot sauce.

The capital city of Bridgetownis the heart of shopping in Barbados. Harrison's and Cave Shepard are the two largest department stores, and offer an extensive duty free selection. Best of Barbados shops located throughout the island sell well known Barbadian products. Every evening when the sun goes down, you will hear the flute like song of the whistling frogs. The whole island is alive with the song of the frogs - and the best part is they all are in unison!
Barbados is one of the few Caribbean island with a local middle class. Many of the beautiful hilltop and beachfront homes belong to the local middle class residents.

South Coast beaches are located on the Caribbean Sea and have bigger waves than the West coast. Many beaches are protected by reefs providing calm water for beach goers, and enough waves for windsurfing.
South East Coast
Big waves, with many great beaches nestled in cliffs, with dunes, pink sand, and turquoise water. The most popular beaches on the Southeast coast are Crane Beach, and Bottom Bay.
West Coast
The West coast is known for the rich and famous with luxury hotels, villas, expensive restaurants and fine beaches with smooth, warm waters.
Located on the Caribbean Sea, the water on the West coast is excellent for sailing, snorkeling, and scuba diving. This coast offers lots of dive wrecks, and West coast tours offers the opportunity to swim with the giant sea turtles.
East Coast
Known as the rugged part of the island. Situated on Atlantic Ocean side, you'll find Huge waves crashing against the shore. The landscape is rather rugged also, and you'll find great cliff views.
